Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards

We have 6 winners?

Taylor

It might have taken a couple years but Waterhouse LA has won Six awards shared in art and writing! This year Hunter, Eden, Evelyn and I entered the Scholastic competition (mommy, what is the real name?). We all entered multiple art and writing subjects. Hunter entered photographs Evelyn and Eden entered paintings and I enter a photograph and graphic art. We all entered poetry. The wait was excruciating, why do judges take so long? But one day, we received a package in the mail; Evelyn and I had one gold key’s for poetry! We were both so excited. Now we had to wait for the art results. When they came we weren’t surprised (okay so we were) to see that we had won that to. I had one a gold key for my graphic art and Hunter, a silver for his photos. But this was only the first stage; we still had to wait to see who had won national. Many days later, the news came; Evelyn had won a national for her poetry! Though the rest of us were slightly sad, we were really excited for Evelyn and the experience was really fun.

A Scholastic Experience

By Hunter

Every Thursday Papa came to school to teach a class on photography. I have always loved photography so this was a good opportunity for me to become a better photographer. He taught us many useful facts and in the end it led up to me winning a silver key from Scholastic Arts.

On the night before all our photos had to be sent into Scholastic I decided to go outside and look for anything more I could take a picture of. I went outside and walked around searching. It was at this point that I thought I probably wouldn’t find anything, but right then I saw a spider lying softy on its web and that was the snapshot that won me a Silver Key from Scholastic.

How to Eat a Cupcake

Eating Cupcakes

By Hunter

I was just walking around. We were all eating our cupcakes. Everyone was having fun celebrating someone’s birthday or something. All of the younger kids finished their cupcakes and normally, if there’s extra the older kids finish them off. I finished mine and grabbed another cupcake, when suddenly Taylor came around the corner and shoved it in my face. Wow. Every bite was as good as any other cupcake would be. And, yes, I still eat the cupcakes.
