Composing like John Cage. Thank you Hannah!

Learning about the music John Cage music has been entertaining so far. We're looking forward to accomplishing the goal set ahead of us of composing music and setting it to film. We're working on communicating the vast differences between chaos and control through this music. So far we've collected different noises to play throughout our music, and we're starting to work on possible melodies. Some of the noises include: Squeaking shoes, popping jaws, and water bottles. The melodies are still in their beginning stages but slowly but surely they will develop. And when they do, the noises, plus the music, will be amazing. Music is great, and I love being able to use it creatively.

Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, Pastor Kidd arrives to teach us about the Five Pillars of Manhood. He spends mere moments explaining how we should live our lives, but that message will stay with us forever. After this time of discipleship, Pastor Kid flexes his muscles in the bi-weekly “gun show” and is still the undefeated champion. When he is around, he encourages us to stay on track with our characteristics and devotions… Here’s to you Pastor Kidd, “Thank you.”

Searching The World

Let the games begin! Each week, on Tuesday at 2:30, we begin to test out knowledge on the countries of the world. Miss Lori holds up a card and asks us questions pertaining to the certain country, 15 in all. We take turns guessing (or for some, answering), each time one wrong answer is given, another hint is provided and 1 point is taken away. Other times she holds up a picture card and asks a question from there, questions like “What is the capital of Australia?”. The scores are tallied and the winner is shown, sometimes the winner stands out like snow in a desert, often times the scores are only off by 5 points, once in a blue moon there is a tie. Oh, by the way, the answer is Canberra.

Poker

So who doesn’t like poker? I mean, it’s addicting fun, it’s challenging, and above all it’s pure luck! Well, to tell you the truth, we’re really not playing “poker,” we’re playing ‘21,” poker just sounds more professional. The game of “21” is when you get cards and see who gets the closest to or 21 points without going over. The chips that you see us playing with are not real. No, we wouldn’t dare play for real money, all of us except for Hunter, that is. We’ve all had our good games, but mostly we play just for fun! Though I must admit that I hope I hit the jackpot next time we play!

Blake’s Teaching Experience

It was a lot of fun teaching Soren, Michael, and Isaiah. These 3 out of 4 little dudes in our co-op were cooperative and were good learners. The reason I was teaching them was because Liam and Jonathan were on a trip, so I was the loner in our group. It was kind of cool being the teacher for one day. I went over things like animals, and land. They had to choose an animal to research. It was really awesome being the teacher at Waterhouse. I would love to do it again.
